Little Monsters

16th of May 2010

with everyone beginning to drift away (coursewise) i decided to spend this weekend playing with fimo and creating a bunch of little monsters for them to take away with them. believe me i had a good time making them, and i hope they're well received - we had a lot of fun coming up with ideas in the pub :D

Good Times

14th May 2010

so this week was the Bradford University (Archaeology) Masters end of an era party, which involved a great deal of looking for dresses and suits (yes, archaeologists NOT coated in mud, shock horror) and alcohol (as you can tell). the year isn't over just yet - there's still those pesky dissertations to get through - but so far everyone has been brilliant and i'm going to miss each and every one of them.

highlights of the evening included seeing puppy again, anthea asking to stroke puppy's sporran, erin being ninja at avoiding photos, the boys cancaning to its raining men, the almighty cathy winning the 'best bum' award and everyone having a good boogie :)

Photos are of: my course - becci, peter, laura, charlotte, me and rowena; me and miss jamie; me, bones burton and miss jamie

Biddulph Bimbleage

11th May 2010

had a girly day with jacabsolute today, so i have a new haircut (still with stealth-purple) and awesome (pink!) new shoes. slowly but surely jamie is infecting my brain with pinkness. there was just enough time this evening to get a picture of that gorgeous sunset over the valley :)

jacabsolute and keith got me reading toby frost's space captain smith series, and they're hilarious, i would definitely recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good bit of tongue-in-cheek sci-fi.

Biddulph, for a spell

9th of May 2010
i'm back in biddulph at the moment, staying with jacabsolute and the Venerable Bede (mum and grandad) and i've finished the last of this term's essays so i decided not to bring any work. i brought reading... but hey, that's kind of fun :) what it means is i finally had time to take some more shots of the garden for my Fairy Grove series on dA (http://parlanchina.deviantart.com/). the garden has been beautiful at this time of year for as long as i can remember; when i was little it was the Venerable Bede looking after the veg and grandma working with the flowers (and me getting in the way), and now it's a jacabsolute and uncle Keith collaboration :) i help out when i can, but living so far away rather prohibits that. i dug out the tomato patch in the greenhouse today though, so that's something. it feels kind of awesome to be working the soil that has been worked by the hands of my family :) feels right, you know?

Rainbows

(sometime in early may before i went home but after we went to the allotment)

well, with niall away i decided to do something i always wanted to but was afraid would look terrible. thanks to rowena my new purple hair looks fabulous (though sadly it won't last long). with the patience of a saint she also dyed jamie's hair hot pink and hannahs every colour we could find :D so i made her some falls to say thanks.

Back and Back and Back...

so this commences my 'posts i should have put up ages ago'. having lost the diary for last academic year i'm going to try figuring them out from the photos i have.

so: sometime in early may...

my beloved niall has departed to Thailand to attend ben and poom's wedding and i wish i was with him instead of writing endless essays :(

we went up to the allotment this weekend and, get this, there are BLOSSOMS on the APPLE TREE! this is big and exciting for me as last year none of the fruit trees did anything, so fingers crossed for fruit sometime in september! with the greenhouse (Chateaux Thaddeus) in good order and the progress made on the raised beds (largely thanks to mark and the various unsuspecting volunteers we managed to drum up), it's looking less like a bomb-site and more like and actuall garden. allan, rowena and jamie came up and helped me put in potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes, peppers and plant out some of the stuff that's been growing on my windowsill. thanks guys!

another exciting first for the allotment was definitely our first crop of asparagus (notoriously tough to grow). they tasted great :D

Back from the future

so yeah, that would be me not posting for ages - life exploded again. there was moving house and the murder trial (which has gone to retrial 'cause the judge is sick) and lots of statistics. i suspect i will never actually finish my masters (and if my dyes don't arrive soon i'll never even start). GRRRRR!

anyway. i'll put some more coherent stuff up soon. promise! but for now, here is a picture of an orchid, because it's pretty.
